Winter Storm Warning Issued For McHenry, Lake Counties
Heavy snow falling at a rate of up to two inches per hour is expected early Saturday. Between 5 to 8 inches of snow is possible.
LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A winter stormwarning has been issued for Lake and McHenry counties, with heavy snow expected to hit early Saturday and continue through Saturday afternoon.
The winter storm warning has been issued for 4 a.m. through 1 p.m. Saturday for McHenry, Lake, Boone, Winnebago and Ogle counties. Snow rates of up to 2 inches per hour are likely late Friday night and could continue into mid-morning Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

During the winter storm, roads are expected to become snow-covered and travel will become difficult for a period early Saturday morning when the heaviest snow is expected, according to the National Weather Service. The combination of heavy, wet snow and gusty winds may result in downed tree limbs and sporadic power outages.
Those who must travel are urged to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
