Woman Flees Police In Stolen Car: Authorities

The car was clocked driving 104 mph in a 45 mph zone during the police chase in Lake County Monday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Fox Lake woman was arrested this past week after being clocked fleeing police at speeds of more than 100 mph in a 45 mph zone in a stolen car.

Kristina Krause, 42, of the 200 block of Grand Avenue in Fox Lake, now faces charges of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony; aggravated fleeing to elude, a Class 4 felony; and aggravated speeding, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies attempted to pull Krause over several times this past week before she fled deputies. At about 11:10 p.m. on Monday, a deputy spotted the stolen Dodge Charger in the area of Washington Street and Route 21 in Gurnee, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The deputy followed the Dodge, which continued down several roadways before the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over in the area of Rollins Road and Drury Lane in unincorporated Grayslake, according to the news release. The vehicle continued west, reaching speeds of 104 mph in a 45 mph zone.

As Krause approached Hook Drive in Round Lake Beach, she turned her headlights off and turned into a residential neighborhood on Hook Drive. Due to being in a residential area, sheriff’s deputies stopped pursuing Krause.

Deputies continued to check the area for the vehicle and found the Dodge abandoned in the 1900 block of Hardwood Path. Lake County Sheriff’s K9 Odin and his handler responded to the scene to conduct a track from the abandoned Dodge, according to the news release.

Sheriff’s K9 Odin tracked through several wooded backyards and located Krause hiding between two bushes, according to police. Krause was taken into custody, police said.
