Woman Murdered, Dumped On Side Of Lake County Road: Sheriff's Office

A passerby noticed a body laying on the side of the road Wednesday in Old Mill Creek. Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.

OLD MILL CREEK, IL — A woman was found dead on the side of the road Wednesday in Old Mill Creek, authorities said.

Around 7 a.m., as the sun began lighting the roadway, a passerby called police to report a possible body on the side of Hunt Club Road, south of Route 173, according to Lake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Chris Covelli.

Arriving deputies located the body on the east shoulder of the road near the intersection of Hunt Club and Kelly roads, Covelli told Patch.

Investigators believe the woman, who appeared to have some facial trauma, was the victim of a homicide before she was dumped on the side of the road sometime during the early morning hours, he said.

The Lake County Coroner's Office was called to the scene and plans to conduct an autopsy to identify the woman and determine the cause and manner of her death.
