2024 Ravinia Festival Schedule Revealed: Debuts From Violent Femmes, Ben Platt

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The Ravinia Festival Association on Thursday announced its schedule of live music for its 2024 season.

The lineup (see below) includes 60 artists making their debuts making their debuts at the nation's oldest outdoor music festival, such as scheduled performances by Ben Platt, Crowded House, Samara Joy, Digable Planets and the Violent Femmes.

Returning favorites on the festival's 2024 schedule include James Taylor, Norah Jones, Angélique Kidjo, Elvis Costello and The Beach Boys with John Stamos.

“With an extraordinary range of concerts and artists, we are excited to offer an inspiring and captivating season for everyone who comes to Ravinia,” Jeffrey Haydon, the association's president and CEO, said in a statement.

“Whether in Bennett Gordon Hall, Martin Theatre, Pavilion, Lawn, or Carousel," Haydon said, "concertgoers will surely experience the spirit of summer with incredible music under the stars."

The annual six-week residency by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, or CSO, under Chief Conductor Marin Alsop, runs from July 12 through Aug. 18.

The orchestra will present Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 and a space-themed concert aligning with the Breaking Barriers Festival in late July featuring The Planets by Gustav Holst and The Moons Symphony by Amanda Lee Falkenberg.

Other notable names on this year's schedule include joint bills of Indigo Girls with Melissa Etheridge, ZZ Top with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Feat with Los Lobos and Angélique Kidjo with Meshell Ndegeocello and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Gipsy Kings and The Roots are also scheduled to perform.

For the fourth year in the row, Ravinia concert tickets will be honored as fares to and from the park on Metra's Union Pacific North Line on the day of the event. The Ravinia Festival Association operates the only private train stop in Illinois, according to the association.

Tickets for the 2024 season go on sale to the public on April 24, with donor presales starting as early as March 19.
