Beating Outside Highwood Bar Leads To Arrest: Blotters

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

THEFTS

  • A resident in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West reported on May 3 that items had gone missing from their home in October 2022, including prescription glasses, shoe charms for babies and Russian lacquer boxes.
  • On the evening of May 3, police got a report from a resident that a driver for the Uber app had driven away with about $200 worth of recently purchased groceries. The passenger was unable to make contact with the driver and reported the incident to police.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Two possibly unlocked cars were burglarized while parked in the 2200 block of St Johns Avenue on the night of April 30 and early morning hours of May 1. It was not known if anything was stolen at the time of the report.
  • Someone burglarized a pair of unlocked cars parked in a garage in the 2200 block of Linden Avenue at some point on May 1. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone stole an umbrella from a possibly unlocked car in a garage in the 2200 block of Linden Avenue on May 1.
  • At some point between March 16 and April 30, someone stole clothing items from an unlocked car in the 1300 block of Ridge Road. The incident was reported to police on May 3.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Officers were dispatched to the Dairy Queen, 600 Central Ave., shortly after noon on May 1 for a report that someone had stolen an unspecified amount of money from the safe at the business.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
At some point prior to 6 p.m. May 1, someone pouted cement down the shower drains at a structure in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, causing an unknown amount of damage.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked at the Sunset Foods, 1812 Green Bay Road, at some point between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on May 5.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Forest Grant Simms, 31, of the 600 block of East Illinois Road, Lake Forest, was arrested April 20 and charged with battery after police said he swiped upward against the face of a police officer, making contact with the officer's lip and nose, around 11:30 p.m. that night at the Wooden Nickel, 444 Lakeview Ave., Highwood.

Anthony D. Lampros, 44, of the 1600 block of Aspen Drive, Lake Forest, was arrested May 4 and charged with battery after officers said security footage shows him pushing a man out of the front door of the Wooden Nickel, 444 Lakeview Ave., and striking him while outside. He also faces a pending felony charge of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a February arrest by Lake Forest police.

Alvaro Suarez Munoz, 41, of the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive, Highland Park, was arrested around 9 p.m. on May 5 and charged with three misdemeanor offenses — possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification, or FOID, card, possession of ammunition without a FOID and domestic battery after police were dispatched to his block.

Samantha L. Martinez, 22, of the 34400 block of North Bobolink Trail, Grayslake, was arrested around 1 a.m. on May 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and unlawful use of cannabis by a driver after officers pulled her over for speeding at the intersection of Park Avenue and Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued citations for speeding and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol.

Luke H. Goshen, 18, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road, Highwood, was arrested May 7 and charged with misdemeanor battery after striking someone with a vehicle near his home, causing them bodily harm around 7 p.m. that evening.
