HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole a backpack and two sets of keys from an unlocked Kia hatchback parked in a driveway in the 1900 block of Keats Lane between March 31 and April 12. The estimated loss was about $400.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police were called to the 800 block of Ridge Road around 9 a.m. on April 15 for a report that someone had damaged the front door to a home a week earlier. Officers were told someone caused an unknown amount of damage to the door around 9:30 p.m. on April 8.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Brando A. Cisneros Bautista, 24, of the 35600 block of North Franklin Avenue, Ingleside, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on April 14 and charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery, a felony, and two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to a report of an disturbance at a home in the 1700 block of Green Bay Road around 9:30 p.m. the prior night. Bautista was gone by the time officers arrived, but a Lake County judge later approved an arrest warrant for the charges, which include the allegation that he strangled a family or household member.

Ashley R. Collins, 35, of the 5400 block of West Ferdinand Street, Chicago, was arrested around 9 p.m. on April 14 at the intersection of Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and aggravated battery to a peace officer. Officers were dispatched to the area for a complaint about the driver of a Chevrolet swerving all over northbound Skokie Valley Road before pulling into a gas station. As she was being placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI, Collins attempted to kick and bite officers on scene and spit in the face of an officer. Collins was also issued citations for unsafe U-turn and improper backing.

Jaime Membreno, 38, of the 1700 block of North Long Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on April 16 and charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended or revoked license after police pulled him over near the intersection of Half Day and Skokie Valley roads for improper lane usage, for which he was ticketed. Officers also issued him a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol before being released on his own recognizance.

Gantsetseg Vanya, 42, of the 3900 block of Newport Way, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on April 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after officers arrived at the scene of a traffic crash at the intersection of Green Bay and Lake Cook roads. Officers determined Vanya was intoxicated and took her into custody. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
