Fox Lake Woman Charged With DUI After Car Crashes Into Pole, Rolls Over In Highland Park

Joanna L. Schumacher is scheduled to appear in court in January.

A Fox Lake woman was charged with driving under the influence after she crashed into a gate at a car dealership in Highland Park, causing her vehicle to roll over.

Joanna L. Schumacher, 38, of the 0-100 block of Pleasant Court in Fox Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage.

The Highland Park Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park around 10:40 p.m. on December 16.

Schumacher was driving a vehicle in the 500 block of Skokie Valley Road, police said.

Her vehicle struck a cement post holding up the gate to Muller Honda, located at 550 Skokie Valley Road.

The collision caused the vehicle to flip onto the driver’s side, police said.

Officers requested the Highland Park Fire Department to evaluate Schumacher for injuries, according to fire radio traffic.

Paramedics evaluated and released Schumacher at the scene.

Schumacher was charged four days later and released from police custody on a personal recognizance bond.

She is scheduled to appear in court on January 14 in Waukegan.
