Giants Take Second, Warriors Third in League Swim
Deerfield High School's Ruby Powell is sole Central Suburban League champion from both Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools.

Giants Top Performers: Julie Solem, Caroline Kane, Sam Lask and Sabrina Baxamusa teamed to take second in the 200-yard medley relay while Natalie Gelberg was fourth in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Erin Cullather finished second in diving. Sophia Livney placed fourth in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

Warriors Top Performers: Ruby Powell won the 100 backstroke and placed third in the 100 freestyle while Lauren Kurzydlo swam to third in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Powell and Kurzydlo teamed with Maddie Wilson and Anna Tsakiris to take second in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Lilly Booker, Sarah Soren, Anna Jakubek and Danni Cole ended up third in the 200 medley relay.
Other Notable Giant Performances: Emma Gelberg placed third in the 200 individual medley and Lask did the same in the 100 breaststroke. Avery Spitz took fifth in diving with Kendall Robbins sixth while Kane added a fifth in the 100 butterfly as did Molly Solem in the 200 freestyle. Julia Solem was sixth in the 200 individual medley.

Other Notable Warrior Performances: Lindsay Guare earned third in the diving competition with Sabrina Linton fourth. Booker swam to fourth in the 100 backstroke while Jakubek added a fifth in the 200 individual medley and sixth in the 100 breaststroke. Becca Rosenberg finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke and Paige Hagaman did the same in the 200 freestyle.
Who’s Next: The Giants and Warriors compete in Illinois High School Association Sectionals Saturday.
