A recent study placed Highland Park among the most affordable places to plan a lakeside trip this fall.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park is among the most affordable places to plan a trip this fall, according to a recent study.

The research, conducted by rental site Lake.com, used Booking.com to estimate which lakeside towns and cities had the lowest median price for a five-day stay over three separate dates in the fall. Researchers found that a five-day lakeside getaway costs anywhere from $231 and $1,037.

In Highland Park, the media price for a vacation was $276, placing it fourth on the list.

"Lake towns and cities are often popular vacation destinations that can see fluctuating property prices and rental rates depending on the season,” said David Ciccarelli, CEO of Lake.com. "While

summer tends to be peak tourist season, fall often brings lower demand, potentially making lakefront properties more affordable."

The most affordable location for a lakeside vacation this fall was Branson, Missouri with a media price of $231. Branson is known for its variety of live entertainment and prime location near three lakes: Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, and Bull Shoals Lake.

The most expensive location for a 5-day lake vacation during the fall was Vergennes, Vermont, with an average price of $1,015.
