Volunteer To Shovel Snow For Your Highland Park Neighbors

The City of Highland Park is offering a community program to connect older adults and people with disabilities with willing volunteers.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The city of Highland Park is looking for volunteers who are willing to help out older residents and residents with disabilities when it comes time to shovel snow.

Anyone who is seeking assistance or who would like to volunteer can apply for the 2025-26 winter season can apply via email to Social Services Specialist Rachel Trabaris at rtrabaris@cityhpil.com. Applications can also be dropped off in person at the Highland Park senior Center at 1201 Park Ave. West.

"This program is made possible by volunteers who generously donate their time to assist residents in need," city officials said in a statement.

Individuals who are in need of assistance may register in advance by calling Trabaris at 847-432-4110.

The program is free, and no exchange of money or goods is permitted.

After 2 inches of snowfall, residents may request assistance and a volunteer team will be dispatched within 48 hours.

Homeowners are responsible for providing shovels, ice melting materials and other necessary tools.
