HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package worth $200 after it was delivered to the lobby of an apartment building in the 2000 block of St. Johns Avenue at some point prior to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 27.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro from a car lot in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road at some point prior to 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 24.

HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 1700 block of Rosemary Road at some point prior to midnight on Oct. 31. Burglars made off with cash, several pieces of jewelry and checkbooks.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Two possibly unlocked cars were burglarized in the 800 block of Edgewood Road at some point prior to 9:15 a.m. Oct. 31. Unspecified items were reported stolen.
  • Someone got into a possible unlocked car in the 900 block of Deerfield Road and stole an envelope containing cash from inside prior to 4 p.m. on Nov. 5.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Someone smashed a window of a car parked in the 1000 block of Green Bay Road prior to noon on Oct. 31, but nothing was reported stolen from inside.
  • Someone egged a car in the 1000 block of Ferndale Avenue prior to 8:30 a.m. Nov. 1, but they did not damage the car.
  • A some point between Nov. 6 and Nov. 10, someone reportedly tipped over garden crates in a yard of a home in the 600 block of Green Bay Road, causing an unspecified amount of damage.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 20-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 after he was pulled over for speeding and only having a single headlight in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road. They also charged him with attempted possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 24-year-old Deerfield man was arrested around 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 2 after she arrived at the police department with an active arrest warrant issued in connection with an allegation of two counts of battery in Highland Park on Oct. 28.

A 27-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 3:45 a.m. on Nov. 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to a report of a crash in the 800 block of Auburn Court. They also issued the man citations for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 58-year-old Highland Park woman was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest after police were called to the 1900 block of Linden Avenue for a report of a dispute between residents.

A 26-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 1 a.m. on Nov. 6 and charged with drivign under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued citations for speeding, expired registration and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

A 23-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 10 p.m. on Nov. 10 following a multi-car crash at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment. Officers also issued him citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 21-year-old Grayslake woman was arrested on Nov. 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop somewhere on Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued citations for use of unsafe tires, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control light and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
