Highland Park Hospital Honors Veterans With Clothing Drive, Ceremony

More than 25 containers of donated clothing were delivered to the Midwest Veterans Closet in North Chicago.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Endeavor Health Highland Park Hospital officials celebrated Veterans Day this year by hosting two Salute to Service events to honor local veterans.

Local veterans and their families will benefit from the hospital’s clothing drive, which gathered more than 25 containers of donations, according to hospital officials.

Last week, the clothing drive, organized by the hospital's wellbeing committee, delivered the donated items to the Midwest Veterans Closet, 2323 Green Bay Road in North Chicago.

On Monday, the hospital’s annual Veterans Day event included patriotic military songs to welcome staff, and display of World War II memorabilia highlighted history.

Local schoolchildren also contributed handmade “Thank You” cards to show appreciation for employees, as well as inpatient veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Red poppies, provided by the Illinois American Legion Auxiliary, were distributed to staff and patients as a tribute.
