Highland Park Hospital Receives 'A' Rating
Endeavor Health Highland Park was among 35 Illinois hospitals lauded for their dedication to providing quality care to patients.
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A new hospital safety report released Thursday awarded Endeavor Health Highland Park Hospital an “A” grade based on its ability to protect their patients from often preventable harm.
The Highland Park hospital was among six Endeavor Health hospitals that earned A grades from the Leapfrog Group, alongside Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Evanston Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital.
Elmhurst Hospital maintained its straight-A streak, being one of only 11 hospitals in the country to receive an A in every grading period since the program began in 2012. Endeavor Health Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Northwest Community Hospitals were also among only 12 percent of hospitals nationwide who earned the top grade in five or more consecutive rating cycles

"Safety isn’t just a metric, it’s the foundation of how we deliver care,” said Lakshmi Halasyamani, MD, Chief Clinical Officer, Endeavor Health. “These top grades reflect the relentless effort of our teams to learn from one another, share best practices and build a culture where safe, seamless and personal care for every patient is the standard.”
The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit health care watchdog group that grades hospitals twice a year,
assigns letter grades ranging from “A” to “F,” for 3,000 general hospitals on how well they prevent medical errors, accidents and infections.

The analysis found that 90 percent of hospitals with a fall 2025 Safety Grade are part of a health system. Among A hospitals, the chance of being system-affiliated is slightly higher, at 94 percent. The same held true for Straight A hospitals, with 95 percent of the 358 Straight A hospitals part of health systems.
"The Leapfrog Group was founded 25 years ago to improve American health care through transparency, and the Safety Grade has been a cornerstone of that effort," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "As we mark this milestone year, for the first time we're looking at how consolidation impacts patient safety. We want to understand if system leadership accelerates patient safety or not."
