HPHS Student Named to Tribune's All-State Academic Team

Highland Park High School senior Scott Beck is one of 10 Illinois high school students to be named to the Chicago Tribune's 2013 All-State Academic Team.

Beck, who scored a perfect 36 on the ACT test, received the Tribune's honor for excellence in math, science and playing the French horn. He was nominated by HPHS Principal Brad Swanson.

In Feb. 2013, Beck was named a 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program finalist. In Oct. 2012, he was named among Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, reported Patch.

In Nov. 2012, Beck performed at the Illinois Music Educators Association District VII Music Festivals, reported Patch.
