HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. INCIDENTS
THEFTS
- Someone stole five light bulbs from the outdoor light fixtures at a home in the 1700 block of Ridge Road prior to noon April 23 for a loss of about $45.
- Two jet skis and a trailer were reported stolen from a locked, gated area at the Park Avenue boating ramp, 31 Park Ave., at some point prior to the afternoon of April 27. The total loss was unknown.
- On the morning of May 1, police got a report that two wave runners and a trailer had been stolen from the boating ramp at 31 Park Ave. The total loss was unknown.
- Someone stole a commercial dehumidified from a job site in the 100 block of Whistler Road and then posted it for sale on Facebook Marketplace on or around May 1. It was returned to its owner the next day.
SHOPLIFTING

- An unidentified shoplifter stole two bottles of soda and a bag of chips from the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, prior to 7:15 p.m. April 24.
- Casey's staff reported shortly before midnight on April 24 that someone had stolen several products valued at about $71.
- An employee of Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, manufactured a fake winning lottery ticket and stole $100 cash from the register of the store on or before May 1.
- A former employee of Muller Honda, 550 Skokie Valley Road, used the business account to order several sets of tires at some point prior to the morning of May 2. THe total estimated loss was unknown.
- Someone stole an unspecified item of unknown value from the Jewel-Osco, 1600 Deerfield Road, police were told around 11 p.m. on May 5.
VANDALISM
- Around 6 p.m. on May 2, someone reported graffiti in the first block of St. Johns Avenue to police.
- Three scratch marks, each about 2 feet long, was found on a car in the 400 block of Central Avenue on or before 12:30 p.m. on May 5.
THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

- Someone stole the front license plate and bolts from a car, apparently while it was parked at the Highland Park train station, 1700 St. Johns Ave.
- Someone stole a pair of replacement license plates from a locked car in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road prior to 2:30 p.m. April 30.
CAR BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 1000 block of Bob-O-Link Road reported around 5:30 a.m. on May 5 that someone had gotten into their garage after they left the door open and entered both of their cars. Nothing was reported stolen.
- During a canvas of the area of the previous incident on the morning of May 5, police found another car with its glove box left open.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Court Avenue reported on the afternoon of May 5 that someone had gotten into an unlocked car during the previous night. Instead of stealing anything, the intruders left two items that did not belong to the car's owner.
- Another resident of the 1000 block of Court Avenue reported on the afternoon of May 5 that someone had gotten into and started the engine of their car but did not steal it.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Court Avenue reported on the afternoon of May 5 that someone got into their unlocked car and stole two items of unknown value from inside.
ATTEMPTED CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 800 block of Dryden Lane reported around 5 a.m. May 5 that someone had unsuccessfully tried to break into their car.
STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a possibly unlocked Volkswagen SUV from a driveway in the 1100 block of Bob-O-Link Road at some point prior to 5:30 a.m. on May 5.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 28-year-old Wheeling man was arrested around 4 a.m. on April 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to a report of a car left running for 90 minutes at an unspecified location.
A 27-year-old Highland Park man was charged with aggravated driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Ridge Road and Grove Avenue around 1 p.m. on April 26. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage and operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device.
A 23-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 2 a.m. on April 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver. She was also issued citations for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol and improper lane usage.
A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 11 p.m. on April 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful use of cannabis by a driver and endangering the life of a child following a traffic stop near the intersection of Skokie Valley and Clavey roads.
A 22-year-old Highland Park man was arrested on May 1 following an hourslong standoff and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.

A 44-year-old Highland Park man and a 55-year-old Highwood man were both arrested around 3:30 p.m. on May 1 and charged with contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor after police were called to the Highland Park Library, 494 Laurel Ave., in order to serve a "no trespassing" order. The person who called police said they spotted someone matching the description of a person who had already been banned from the library.
A 30-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested around 11 p.m. on May 1 after she was pulled over on northbound Old Skokie Road at Parkside Drive and police found two active warrants. She was also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
A 33-year-old Lindenhurst man was arrested around 9 p.m. on May 2 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license and issued a citation for having a license plate cover following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Old Skokie Road.
