Man Charged For Bringing Gun To High School Football Game: Police
Highland Park police arrested a man who reportedly brought a concealed weapon to a Highland Park High School football game.
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Police arrested and charged a man who brought a gun to a Highland Park High School varsity football game on Saturday.
According to a statement from District 113 Superintendent of schools Chala Holland, the K9 weapons detection team at the Highland Park High School identified a man carrying a concealed weapon while walking to Wolters Field.
The man had a concealed carry license and admitted to carrying a concealed weapon. A concealed carry license specifically prohibits individuals from carrying a concealed weapon at schools and child care facilities.

Officers removed the man from the property without incident, authorities said. The man was charged with a violation of his concealed carry license, a misdemeanor.
"Although today’s events are deeply concerning, I want to extend my gratitude to the K9 team, the rest of District 113 security, and the Highland Park Police Department for their immediate action. Because of their swift response, our students, staff and guests were able to have an uninterrupted experience at the game," Holland said.

According to the Highland Park Police Department, the suspect is expected to appear in court on Nov. 17 in Waukegan.
