Park Avenue Boating Task Force Members Announced

The group is charged with finding a way for the existing boating facility to stay at its current location at the sound end of the beach.

The following is from the Park District of Highland Park:

The Park District of Highland Park announced yesterday the selected members for the Park Avenue Task Force. The task force will be charged with finding a viable solution for the existing Park Avenue boating facility to stay at its current location at the south end of Park Avenue Beach and outside the secure perimeter of the city’s water treatment plant.

Highland Park resident, David Fairman will chair the task force and made the selection of its seven members from 21 submitted applications. Fairman also chaired the Park District’s Rosewood Beach Task Force in 2012.

The Park Avenue Task Force is comprised of Highland Park residents including two North Shore Yacht Club (NSYC) members designated by the NSYC, two power boaters, two sailors, and one general interest resident. The Park Avenue Task force members are:

Park District of Highland Park Board Commissioners Lori Flores Weisskopf and Brian Kaplan will serve as ex officio members of the task force along with Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rottering and City Council Member Michelle Holleman. The first task force meeting is tentatively slated for Wednesday, November 5, 2014.
