Police Blotter: Car Burglaries, Phony Prescriptions

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Driving while license suspended

Mattew Cusack, 21, of the 4400 block of N. Keokuk, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and two headlights required after being stopped by police in the 1000 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. Cusack was released on bond with a court date of Feb. 8.

Marcy McKenny, 38, of the 1900 block of W Berteau, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device after being stopped by police in the 800 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. McKenny was released on bond with a court date of Feb. 8.

Zeleiny Porcayo, 24, of the 2800 block of Navajo Road, Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended after police were called to a two car vehicle accident near the intersection of Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Porcayo was released on bond with a court date of Feb. 22.

Matthew Cluck, 24, of the 800 block of South May Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding, improper lane usage and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police in the 100 block of the Edens Expressway, Highland Park. Cluck was released on bond with a court date of March 9.

Kenyatta Moore, 38, of the 2500 block of North Harding, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a driving complaint and subsequently located the vehicle disabled in the 1400 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Moore was released on bond with a court date of Feb. 17.

Neftali Lopez, 37, of the 2400 block of North Harding, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol, speeding and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Lopez was released on bond with a court date of March 23, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Rudy Malnati, 55, of the 800 block of North Dewitt Place, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 1800 block of Half Day Road, Highland Park. Malnati was released on bond with a court date of Feb. 24.

Reckless driving

Aaron Naylor, 31, of the 1800 block of Oklahoma Avenue, Great Lakes, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, improper lane usage and speeding 40+ after being stopped by police near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Deerpath Road, Lake Forest. Naylor was released bond with a court date of Feb. 22.

Unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance

John Wolfe, 67, of the 1700 block of Rosemary Road, Highland Park, was arrested and charged on Jan. 27 with unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance and forgery after police received a report that someone was writing prescriptions on prescription pads that were not prescribed. Wolfe was released on a bond with a court date of Feb. 10.

Theft

Police are investigating the report of a theft where a vehicle drove off without paying for 14.01 gallons of gasoline. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating the delayed report of a theft. It was reported that approximately once a week a subject(s) takes scrap metal from a trailer without permission, specifically sometime between Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. A fraudulent purchase for $90 of gas was made on Dec. 12, 2011 at approximately 5:41 p.m. with a credit card that was later found canceled and reported as lost/stolen. The incident occurred in the 0-10 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. 

Consumption of alcohol by minor

Nathan Echt, 18, of the 2900 block of Priscilla Avenue, Highland Park, was cited to administrative court for consumption of alcohol by minor after police investigated a suspicious activity call in the 500 block of Audubon Place, Highland Park. Echt is expected in administrative court on February 16, 2012 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois.

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property (three out of four tires on a vehicle were punctured) sometime between 1 p.m. Jan. 27 and 5 a.m. on Jan. 28. The incident occurred in the 900 block of North Avenue, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property (driver’s side and passenger side windows and both headlights smashed out) sometime between 3: p.m. on Jan. 28 and 9 a.m. on reporting date. The incident occurred in the 2600 block of Waukegan Avenue, Highland Park. Nothing was reported taken from the vehicle. 

Criminal trespass to vehicle

Police are investigating a report of a criminal trespass to Vehicle.  Police were called to the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue South, Highland Park for a suspicious activity complaint where an unknown subject attempted entry to a parked vehicle. Upon opening the car door, the alarm system sounded and the subjects immediately left the area. No items were reported missing from the vehicle. 

Burglary to motor vehicle

Police are investigating a delayed report of a (cash and a credit card were taken) at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 29. The vehicle was unlocked and had been rifled through. The incident occurred in the1300 block of Ridge Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a burglary to motor vehicle (cash and a wallet containing several credit cards were taken) sometime between Jan. 28 and Jan. 29.  It was later found that fraudulent charges had been made on the credit cards. The incident occurred in the1200 block of Ridgewood Drive, Highland Park.  The vehicle was unlocked. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a burglary to motor vehicle (garage door opener taken) sometime between 7 p.m. on Jan. 28 and 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 29. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Sumac Road, Highland Park.  The vehicle was possibly left unlocked and no forced entry was made.
