Railroad Crossing Repairs Underway In Downtown Highland Park

Union Pacific plans to close the Central Avenue crossing through June 5, according to city officials.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — City officials anticipate the rail crossing at Central Avenues will be closed for a week while Union Pacific Railroad carries out rehabilitation.

Materials are being placed at the site this week for pre-construction, city officials announced. Detour signs are directing drivers to alternative railroad crossings.

The crossing rehabilitation project on Central and Elm avenues is expected to continue through June 5.
