Ravinia Festival 2023 Schedule: Here's Who Is Performing This Summer
Debut performances, returning artists are among more than 100 concerts scheduled this year at the nation's oldest outdoor music festival.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The 2023 Ravinia Festival season schedule includes the first visits to the nation's largest outdoor music festival from performers including Boyz II Men, the Isley Brothers and Charlie Puth.
Artists set to return to Ravinia this summer include John Legend, Lauryn Hill, Brandi Carlile, Santana and Kenny Loggins, who is set to visit Highland Park on his farewell tour.
Ravinia Festival Association President and CEO Jeffrey Haydon said the lineup this season has something to appeal to everyone.

“From shining a spotlight on women composers across multiple genres to bringing the best in pop, rock, jazz, and classical to our varied stages, Ravinia’s summer offerings reflect the wide-ranging musical tastes of Chicago and beyond," Haydon said in a statement announcing the lineup. "Whether you’re attending for the first or fiftieth time, a concert here is a special experience and one we hope our audiences will treasure.”
The season will also feature the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's annual six-week summer residency starting in mid-July. It is scheduled to include a festival celebration of women composers, two semi-staged performances of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and new orchestral arrangements of songs from a pair of Rufus Wainwright albums.

In late August, the festival is screening the complete films "Encanto" and "Jurassic Park," with Chicago Philharmonic set to perform the scores live.
Musicians from the Ravinia Steans Music Institute's training programs are set to perform about two dozen programs at Bennett Gordon Hall. They include both free and ticketed events, many of which are later posted online.
Miriam Fried, a program director at the institute, is stepping down from her role after this season, according to festival representatives.
“We’re pleased to salute our own Miriam Fried," Haydon said, "the director of the Steans Music Institute Piano & Strings program, who concludes her three-decade-long tenure in that role this summer."
This year, Ravinia is also hosting a gathering of more than 100 students from organizations inspired by the El Sistema music education program in 15 states and Canada. Students will get four days of training and mentorship from members of the Chicago Philharmonic. The National Seminario Ravinia event culminates with a free pavilion July 8 concert with the Philharmonic.
Additional Ravinia debuts this year include Ne-Yo, Rebirth Brass Band, Shakti and Straight No Chaser. Other returning acts on the 2023 schedule include: Buddy Guy, Chicago, Counting Crows, John Fogerty, Jason Mraz, Train, Jethro Tull and Carrie Underwood.

“Your Tired, Your Poor”: Migration in Song
The “other,” the stranger in a strange land, has always been with us. The hope of those seeking to better their lives, the fears of those forced to flee danger at home, and the despair of the enslaved migrant have inspired music that captures the full range of their experience. This program, curated by Cori Ellison, traces the migrant experience in music ranging across songs of the Sephardim expelled from Inquisition Spain; Schubert and Schumann’s German Romantic Wanderer; the Africans brought forcibly to our shores; the Jewish, Irish, Italian, and Asian refugees who built 20th-century America; and today’s songs of asylum seekers fleeing Ukraine and Latin America.
