Recording Devices Found In School Bathrooms: Highland Park Authorities
A student is suspected of placing a device in the restrooms at Edgewood Middle School and Highland Park High School, officials said.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Adults and minors were illegally recorded in bathrooms at Edgewood Middle School and Highland Park High School, with an underage student suspected of placing a recording device in the restrooms at both schools, according to authorities.
Highland Park police began investigating the recordings after a staff member discovered a suspicious device in a bathroom at the high school, authorities said, adding evidence of recording in a restroom at the middle school was also found.
In a community message, authorities said they “are confident” the recording had stopped and that school officials were working with police to identify and notify the victims.

“We recognize that this situation is very concerning and will raise many questions,” authorities said in a joint message from the city of Highland Park, North Shore School District 112 and Township High School District 113.
“Due to the active investigation of this juvenile matter, we are limited in what we can share regarding its progress. However, we want to assure you that we are closely collaborating to facilitate law enforcement’s investigation and support all those impacted.”

School personnel have searched the bathrooms at all schools in both districts for recording devices and the districts are conducting Title IX investigations, according to the message.
