Police catch one shoplifter in the act at Target, two others evade arrest: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
- An unidentified woman stole about $88 worth of items from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, at some point prior to 6 p.m. on April 9 after switching tags and exiting through the self-checkout.
- At some point prior to 5:15 p.m. on April 12, someone stole a baby stroller and a car seat from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, with an estimated value of about $485.
JEWELRY THEFT

- A resident in the 300 block of Deere Park Drive West reported on the morning of April 10 that they noticed a wedding ring had gone missing from the home.
- A resident in the 2400 block of Augusta Way reported on April 13 that someone had taken a pair of earring from their home about a month earlier.
THEFT OF UNATTENDED ITEM
Someone stole a phone that had been left on a bench in a locker room at the LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, at some point prior to 11:30 a.m. on April 11.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged a flag pole in the 900 block of Half Day Road at some point between January and March 20, police were told on April 11.

STOLEN TRASH BIN
Someone stole a trash bin from a home in the 1500 block of McCraren Road at some point between 6:15 a.m. and 8 p.m. on April 12.
GOLF CLUB THEFT
Someone stole six golf clubs from a bag in the 1700 block of Lake Cook Road for a loss of about $850.
VANDALISM
On the morning of April 20, police got a report about graffiti on a skate ramp at Sunset Park, 1801 Sunset Road.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 27-year-old Highland Park man was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on April 13 and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Central Avenue. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic signal or sign.
Jessie L. Allen, 63, of the 1800 block of Grand Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 5 p.m. on April 21 and charged with felony retail theft after police were called to the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Road for a report of shoplifting in progress. Once officers arrived, they reportedly identified Allen as the suspected thief.
