HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updated information about the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts.

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING

  • Someone was reported to have stolen cosmetic items from Walgreens at 632 Roger Williams Ave., leaving the store without paying, at some point prior to 2:30 p.m. on May 8
  • On May 16, staff at the Walgreens, 655 Elm Place, reported a female shoplifter stole an undetermined amount of merchandise on May 8.

STOLEN CARS

  • Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on May 11, someone stole an unlocked car with a spare key left inside while parked in the 1800 block of Cavell Avenue.
  • Someone stole a Cadillac from Acura Highland Park, 2699 Skokie Valley Road, between 3:30 and 5:18 a.m. on May 19.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Someone broke into a car in the 3000 block of University Avenue between May 9 and May 11, stealing a charging cable and a Nordstrom credit card.
  • Someone stole a Rolex watch worth about $12,000 from an unlocked car parked at Sunset Valley Golf Club, 1390 Sunset Road, at some point prior to about 2 p.m. on May 13.
  • On the afternoon of May 14, a resident in the 2000 block of St Johns Avenue reported that someone had rummaged through their car during the prior night without stealing anything.

VANDALISM
Police got a report of spray paint on the overpass bridge at the intersection of Deerfield and Berkley Road ramp around 11 a.m. on May 6.

GARAGE BURGLARY
Someone stole two credit cards and a garage door opener during a burglary on the night of May 16 or early morning hours of May 17.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
During the night of May 16 or morning of May 17, someone shattered a window on an car parked in the first block of Vine Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen.

BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle worth $850 after a shopper left it outside a store in the 1700 block of First Street prior to 6 p.m. on May 18.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Timothy R. Elliott, 35, of the 2500 block of East 83rd Street, Chicago, was arrested around 3 a.m. on May 6 and charged with possession of methamphetamine after police pulled him over due to a lack of a rear license plate. He was also charged with no valid registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.

A 43-year-old resident of the 2700 block of Fort Sheridan Road was arrested around noon on May 12 and charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery after officers were called to a battery in progress in his block of residence.

A 27-year-old Northbrook woman was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after police were dispatched to a crash on County Line Road shortly after 6 a.m. on May 17. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 41-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 2 a.m. on May 18 and charged with reckless driving and speeding 35 mph or more over the limit following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road.
