Update: Police Clear Wire Hazard

Safety concerns gone. Complete repair awaits utility company.

(Update at 9:10 a.m.) A Highland Park Police officer was able to eliminate any safety concerns regarding the low hanging wire on the bike path between Half Day Road and Park Avenue West, according to Highland Park Deputy Police Chief George Pfutzenreuter.

“The wire was located and the officer was able to clear it and remove any safety hazards,” Pfutzenreuter said. “Comcast has been notified to come and make permanent repairs.”

Within 20 minutes from the time police learned of the low hanging wire, the safety hazard was cleared, according to Highland Park Police dispatches. The area is not accessible by motor vehicle.

(Earlier at 7:45 a.m.) A low hanging utility wire is hampering access to the bicycle path between Half Day Road and Park Avenue West today about one quarter mile south of Half Day Road.

The wire stretches from about four to six feet off the ground falling from a pole on the east to bushes on the west.
