Withering Pumpkins Can Be Composted At Highland Park Pumpkin Smash
The event is free and open to all residents who may not have their own way to dispose of compostable waste.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Don't let your jack-o-lanterns rot on your doorstep after Halloween. Highland Park's Pumpkin Smash event offers a second life for your lovingly-crafted decorations.
The event will take place on Nov. 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Preserve of Highland Park at 1207 Park Ave. West. The event is free and open to all residents who may not have their own way to dispose of compostable waste.
Enjoy an afternoon of smashing, composting and learning about sustainable practices. Pumpkins, carved or uncarved, should be free of candles, yarn, stickers and plastic pieces

Attendees must register before showing up.
At the event, the Park District of Highland Park is hosting a collection drive for the Moraine Township Food Pantry. Attendees were encouraged to bring seasonings, snacks, crackers, instant tea or coffee, and cereal.
