Puppies welcomed guests who attended Hinsdale Humane Society’s (HHS) first FREE Puppy Party at the shelter to begin its month-long celebration of October’s Adopt-A-Dog month.
Festivities at the Saturday, October 3 celebration included face painting, a Smooch a Pooch Booth, and puppy playtime, one of the highlights. Children (and adults) were able to interact with shelter puppies available for adoption while learning behavior and training techniques from Kym Iffert, HHS Humane Educator and Obedience Instructor.

HHS served “pup”cakes and lemonade to all visitors. Jennifer Vlazny, HHS Operations Manager came up with the idea for the party to put a spotlight on the message of “Adopt, Don’t Shop” when choosing a companion. Adopt-A-Dog Month is a national movement to encourage adoption.
Many families attending brought puppy/dog food donations which will in turn be donated to an area food pantry to help provide for needy pets in the community.

Throughout the party, attendees also visited the kennels, and several lucky shelter animals were adopted that day, and are all now in their new loving homes.
