Hinsdale Hikes Maximum Sergeant Pay
Local sergeants' wages weren't competitive with those in other towns, an official said.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale Village Board on Tuesday raised the maximum of the pay range for police sergeants.
Starting Jan. 1, the top of sergeants' pay range is going up to $141,404, from $136,622, which amounts to a 3.5 percent increase.
Trustee Matthew Posthuma said the village's staff found sergeants' wages were not competitive with those in comparable towns.

"The board feels the police department – and in this case in particular, the sergeants – are doing an excellent job and should be compensated appropriately," Posthuma said.
Posthuma said trustees had discussed the pay issue behind closed doors.
