Hinsdale Middle School Substitute Teacher Suspended After Referencing Violent Punishments

Students weren't in any danger, according to the district.

A Hinsdale Middle School substitute teacher was suspended Thursday after students expressed concerns about things the teacher said.

“The statements referenced historical examples of a violent nature in discussing punishments for inappropriate student behavior with the class,” according to a comment provided by Bridget McGuiggan, director of communications for Community Consolidated School District 181.

Students weren’t in any danger, according to the district, but some felt threatened by what the teacher said.
