19-Year-Old Dies In Motorcycle Crash In Joliet

A 19-year-old from Lockport died in a crash on Route 53 on Monday, according to the coroner's office.

WILL COUNTY, IL — A 19-year-old from Lockport died in a crash in Joliet on Monday, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

Aidan Wilda was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m. on Monday on Route 53, just north of West Schweitzer Road in Joliet, the coroner's office said.

Wilda was driving a motorcycle traveling in the northbound lanes of Route 53/South Chicago Street and struck a vehicle traveling westbound on West Schweitzer Road, according to the coroner's office.

Joliet Police said the vehicle, a Toyota, attempted to make a left turn onto southbound South Chicago Street from westbound Schweitzer Road, and Wilda's motorcycle collided with the rear driver's side of the Toyota.

Wilda was ejected from the motorcycle, and he was also struck by two more vehicles who were traveling northbound on South Chicago Street, according to police.

Wilda was pronounced dead at the scene, and this crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit, police said.
