3 Guns Stolen From Unlocked Vehicles In Homer Glen

​Deputies with the Will County Sheriff's Office are reminding people to keep their vehicle doors locked at all times.

HOMER GLEN, IL—Deputies with the Will County Sheriff's Office are reminding people to keep their vehicle doors locked at all times. The warning comes after deputies received multiple reports of someone entered unlocked vehicles during the overnight hours in Homer Glen recently.

In two of the reported thefts, deputies said handguns were stolen. One handgun was stolen from a vehicle on W. Shellbark Drive, and a handgun was stolen from each of two vehicles, along with a box of ammunition, a wallet with cash and several credit cards on S. Cricketwood Drive.

Deputies said a third victim reported a wallet stolen and lived on W. Filly Drive.

Along with remembering to keeping doors locked, deputies are also urging residents to never leave valuables in their car or truck - especially a gun.

"This simply is not a good practice. Please be a responsible gun owner as a stolen firearm has the potential of being used in a serious crime," deputies posted on social media.
