Bell Road Project Continues, Intersection Roadwork Starts Next Spring

Roadwork at the intersection of Bell and 143rd is expected to start in spring of 2024.

HOMER GLEN, IL — In an update about the Bell Road project, the Village of Homer Glen said that Will County has started the reconstruction and widening of Bell Road road through town.

The former Shell/Circle K gas station at the northwest corner of 143rd and Bell will be used as a construction staging area throughout the duration of the intersection improvement project, the Village said.

The target date for the start of roadwork at the intersection is spring 2024.

The project includes a new four-lane road with double left-hand turn lanes at the intersection. There will also be utility relocations with each phase, according to the Village.

The four phases of the project include: 159th Street to 151st Street; 151st Street to 143rd Street; 143rd and Bell Road intersection; and 143rd to 135th Street.

Utility relocations have already started from 159th to 151st, according to the Village website. An estimated start date for the 151st to 143rd portion of the project is January 2024.
