Bell Road Widening Project Continues

After the project is completed, Bell Road will have two lanes of traffic in both the northbound and southbound directions.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Construction continues on the Bell Road widening project in Homer Glen. According to the Village, the widening project is split into three contracts; 159th to 151st Street, 151st to 143rd Street, and a project at the intersection of Bell Road and 143rd.

The corridor improvement project was approved last year as part of Will County's 5-year transportation improvement program.

The contract for the widening of Bell Road from 159th to 151st Street has been awarded, according to the Village website. Construction will begin in the spring or summer.

During the widening project, traffic will shift to the east and west halves of Bell Road as the project progresses. Businesses on the east side of Bell Road will only be accessible via northbound lanes and businesses on the west side of Bell Road will only be accessible via southbound lanes, the Village said on its website.

After the project is completed, Bell Road will have two lanes of traffic in both the northbound and southbound directions, as well as a raised center median and dedicated turning lanes throughout the road, according to the Village website.
