The New HTRO…Lack of Common Sense or Simply Corruption?
Some Republican voters in Homer Township may be very disappointed with their newly elected PC’s and the new leadership of the Homer Township Republican Organization. On May 28, this past Tuesday, the Will County Republican Central Committee called a special meeting requesting all Committeepersons throughout Will County to attend. The purpose of this meeting was to slate a Republican candidate, Rick Munoz, for Will County State's Attorney to run against the incumbent Democratic candidate James Glasgow. Rick Munoz is a Joliet private practice lawyer looking to challenge the reigning Democrat Glasgow. To be slated as the Republican candidate, Munoz needed a majority vote from the attending Committeepersons. These votes are weighted, meaning that each individual Committeeperson carries the entire Republican vote from each of their individual precincts. Rick Munoz was short by a mere 600 weighted votes to be slated, and the result is that Democrat James Glasgow will go uncontested in the upcoming general election with NO Republican candidate to challenge him. All candidates from the HTRO that voted NO to slate Munoz and let Democrat candidate James Glasgow walk right into the Will County State's Attorney seat once again were all backed and supported in this past primary election by the Homer Glen Mayor, Christina Neitzke-Troike, and former Homer Glen Trustee Broque Backal. Democrats couldn’t be happier with this end result.
The Homer Township Republican Organization PC’s voted as follows:
• Mike Bonomo, Precinct 1 - Yes to slate
• David Buckley, Precinct 2 - No to slate
• Sharon Sweas, Precinct 3 - No to slate
• Michael Costa, Precinct 4 - No to slate
• Nicole LaHa, Precinct 5 - not present
• Steve Balich, Precinct 6 - Yes to slate
• Ken Marcin, Precinct 7 - No to slate
• Tony De Maso, Precinct 8 - No to slate
• Steve Spontak, Precinct 9 - Yes to slate
• Marty Pavlik, Precinct 10 - not present
• Jay Roti, Precinct 11 - Yes to slate
• Jeremy Lucas, Precinct 12 - No to slate
• Daniel Cronin, Precinct 13 - No to slate
• Brad Oedzes, Precinct 14 - No to slate
• Bobbi Medina, Precinct 15 - Yes to slate
• Vicki Bozen, Precinct 16 - Yes to slate
• Dave Sinkus (Chair), Precinct 17 - No to slate
• Brent Porfilio, Precinct 18 - Yes to slate
