Lockport Police Chief To Retire In July, Council Chooses Successor
Chief Harang has served as chief for the past four years, since 2021, and has been with the department for 26 years.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport City Council has appointed a successor chief of police as current Chief Richard Harang is set to retire next month.
At its June 18 meeting, the City Council approved the appointment of John Arizzi as the new chief of police, starting July 11.
According to council documents, Arizzi started at the Lockport Police Department in 2006, and was promoted to commander of investigations division in 2018.

Mayor Steve Streit thanked Chief Harang for his service, and presented him with a plaque from the City.
"You have been a huge, tremendous blessing to our City," Streit said.

Harang has served as chief for the past four years, since 2021, and has been with the department for 26 years.
"This is very difficult, it really is," Harang said. "I just want to say thank you."
"As I step into retirement, I leave this position with peace in my heart," Harang added. "I know that the department is in good hands with John Arizzi."
