Obituary: Thomas Cesal Jr.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Thomas J. Cesal, Jr., age 82, of Homer Glen, died Sept. 5, 2025 in Hinsdale.

Born February 3, 1943, in Berwyn, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Cesal, Sr. and Rose A. Cesal (Prokop).

He is survived by his wife Janet Braverman (née Miller), one month shy of 40 years married, his son Daryl Cesal (Amber), daughter Lynn Terri (James), daughter Joy D’Amico (Timothy), stepdaughters Melissa Braverman and Erika Braverman (Paul Jackson), 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren.

Also survived by a brother John Cesal (Noreen) and a sister Margaret Winter (Thomas).

He was previously married to Barbara Elia, mother of his children.

Thomas was a graduate of J. Sterling Morton High School. He continued his education at Morton Junior College. Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve, serving from 1965 to 1971.

He went on to become a professional land surveyor, passing his exam in 1974.

He owned Area Survey Company, P.C. from 1978 to 2011. He ended his career working at Morris Engineering Inc. in Lisle.

Tom loved spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, playing cards, arts and crafts and going to stock car races.

He was an active member of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), attending many meetings a week and helped many fight this disease. He volunteered at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital and Silver Oaks in New Lenox in this capacity.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
