Lewis University Offers Teach-Out Agreement To Trinity Christian College Students

Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights announced it is closing at the end of the current academic year.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Last month, Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights announced it will be closing at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. Lewis University in Romeoville has shared that it is a teach-out institution for Trinity Christian, providing another option for Trinity students to continue their education.

According to a news release, this teach-out agreement ensures a smooth transition for Trinity Christian College students to Lewis University in five academic programs – Elementary Education, Special Education, Nursing, Social Work and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. All other corresponding academic programs will be handled through a transfer partnership.

Students will be encouraged to complete the academic year with Trinity Christian College before enrolling at a teach-out partner, but they may enroll under teach-out provisions as early as January 2026, according to the university. Teach-out benefits to the students include:

  • acceptance of all credits toward their degree
  • a commitment to maintaining their timeline to graduation
  • no increase to tuition charges

“This Teach-Out Agreement allows affected students to continue their studies at Lewis University through graduation seamlessly,” Dr. David Livingston, President of Lewis University, said in a news release. “It is a painful decision for all involved to have to close an institution. Our goal is to help mitigate this by supporting the students and their career aspirations to the best of our ability”.
