Springview Sweets Opens In Lockport Metra Station

LOCKPORT, IL — A new bakery has opened a space in the Lockport Metra station, serving baked goods to the public and commuters.

Springview Sweets opened in the space, 133 W. 13th St., on Monday. Hours are currently open around train schedules, from 5:30 to 7:15 a.m., and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Owner Megan Dicaro told Patch that she gained her experience worked at other Lockport bakeries. When the bakery she was working at closed in the spring, Dicaro started posting on social media about her baked goods.

She said she knew that there was a space in the Lockport Metra station, so she called the City of Lockport to see if it was available, and it was.

"Things have been amazing," Dicaro, who was born and raised in Lockport, said. "I already have a decent customer base."

Dicaro still takes custom orders, and offerings at the Lockport train station include cookies, cakes, cake pops, Royal icing sugar cookies, brownies, muffins and pies.

She added that she also makes allergy-friendly options. Curbside pick-up is also available during open hours at the bakery.
