On March 6th, County Board Member Jacqueline Traynere illegally logged into County Board Chair Judy Ogalla’s email and forwarded an email exchange between Ogalla and Balich to County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarran.

Balich has filed complaints with the Will County Sheriff, FBI, and Illinois State Police Special Investigations Unit.

Today’s news conference was a call for law enforcement to further investigate this cybercrime and to question how long Traynere, and possibly others, have been committing this type of illegal activity against Republican County Board Members.“As the Republican Leader of the Will County Board, it’s important to ensure she no longer acts as if she’s above the law and is held accountable for her actions,” said Balich. “No County Board Member should have to worry about their private communications being hacked by elected officials and I seriously question how long this has been going on.”

Balich detailed how he would not receive emails people said they sent him and emails that were sent weeks prior started to appear in bulk.“I’m calling on local, state, and federal law enforcement to investigate Board Member Traynere for how long and often she was logging into other Member’s emails and our IT Department for allowing this to occur,” Balich said. “Complaints were filed on March 8 and now we’re here in July with no movement on the case. This is a serious crime that was committed and one that shouldn’t be swept under the rug.”
