1 Dead, 1 Injured After 3-Car Crash In Homewood: Police

Homewood officials said the crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Halsted Street where an 81-year-old woman was found and later died.

HOMEWOOD, IL — One woman is dead and another man is injured after a car crash on Halsted Street Thursday afternoon, Homewood police said.

At around 1:45 p.m., Homewood police and fire officials were called to the 17600 block of Halsted Street. When they arrived, officers said three cars were involved in a crash: a Toyota, Chevy and Nissan.

An 81-year-old woman who was driving the Chevy was taken from the scene to South Suburban Hospital where she later died. The man driving the Toyota, 34, was injured and also taken to South Suburban Hospital.

The 81-year-old's name has not been released while police wait to notify family members. As of Thursday night, the 34-year-old's condition was unknown.

Police told Patch they are investigating the cause of the crash with help from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
