19-Year-Old Homewood Man Charged in Alleged Drug Deal: Blotter

FRIDAY, JUNE 14
Drug Deal Bust
Henry Kormoi, 19, of the 1100 block of 187th Street, Homewood, was charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana, according to a report. Officers reported seeing a suspicious man at about 1:46 p.m. near the intersection of Riegel Road and Ashland Avenue. He had crossed the street three times in a short distance and then met with another man on a bicycle.
The two men reportedly made a hand-to-hand exchange just as police were pulling up, according to the report. Both men ran but were caught after a short pursuit.
Kormoi was arrested and cited for possession of marijuana, the report states. He also was booked for the delivery charge and released after posting bond. Kormoi is due on July 9 in Markham court.
THURSDAY, JUNE 13
Switchblade Found
Carnell Gordon, 36, of the 8900 block of University Avenue, Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing a police officer, according to a report. Police stopped a car that was turning northbound at about 2:21 p.m. onto Halsted Street after police spotted the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
During the stop, the driver repeatedly refused to give his license and proof of insurance until the officer told him why he was stopped, the report states. He also reportedly made a call to someone. More officers were brought to the scene and the driver was arrested. Officers conducted a search and allegedly found a switchblade in the driver's front pocket. He claimed he uses it for protection.
Gordon was booked and taken to the Markham courthouse for a June 14 bond hearing.
