Actor Deon Cole Surprises Jewel-Osco Shoppers With Free Groceries

The "Angie Tribeca" and "Black-ish" star picked up the tab for customers Wednesday in Homewood and on Chicago's South Side.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Grocery store shoppers in the South Suburbs and the South Side of Chicago received a post-Christmas gift thanks to a standup comic and TV star with local roots. Actor Deon Cole surprised Jewel-Osco customers Wednesday by paying for their groceries

"The give back is real!!!" Cole, who's a Chicago native, wrote on Twitter after the grocery chain posted photos from his impromptu shopping spree.

The "Angie Tribeca" and "Black-ish" actor visited stores in Homewood and 95th Street and Stony Island Avenue in the city’s South Side Wednesday and gave back to random customers by paying for their items.

"Today @deoncole came out to two of our Southside stores and paid for random people’s groceries," Jewel-Osco posted on Twitter. "What a success!"

And the recipients of Cole's act of kindness weren't the only ones touched by the actor's generosity.

"A few tears (that promptly froze halfway down) ran down my face after reading this & seeing those smiling faces," wrote one person on Twitter. "Thank you @deoncole for your selflessness. You are loved & appreciated!"
