Amber Alert Canceled, Missing Girl Found Safe

Carleigh Mackey was abducted from a Food 4 Less in Dolton, but was found safe, officials said.

DOLTON, IL — A 1-year-old girl reported missing after she was abducted from the Food 4 Less gas station in Dolton has been found safe, and an Amber Alert issued for her has been canceled.

Carleigh Mackey was in the back seat of a white 2015 BMW utility vehicle when it was stolen from the gas station just before 8:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Amber Alert.

An unidentified man drove off in the BMW. Police said the man got out of a black SUV and got into the white BMW when it was at a gas pump, NBC Chicago reported.

The BMW was last seen heading west on Sibley, and police asked anyone who spotted the vehicle to call 911.

The car was found and Carleigh was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out, ABC Chicago reported.

Police said no one was in custody as of early Monday morning.
