Athlete of the Week: H-F's Williams Leads by Example

Tim Williams, Homewood-Flossmoor's do-it-all quarterback, took some big hits but kept battling in Friday's game against Lincoln-Way East.

senior Tim Williams is everything you'd want in a quarterback. He's got height to see over the line, he's got an arm to throw the ball a country mile, and he's mobile enough to elude the pass rush.

Williams showed off all those skills and more during Homewood-Flossmoor's game against the Griffins last Friday night.

Williams threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns against the Griffins Williams was battered and bruised by the Griffins' pass rush during the game, but he kept getting up and coming back to lead his team in the showdown of SouthWest Suburban Conference foes.

“I'm a little sore, got a headache a little bit, but I'll fight through it,” he said afterward.

Williams said the Vikings’ lack of execution hurt the team on homecoming weekend.

“We started off pretty good,” he said. “I thought that we executed a lot of stuff, but towards the stretch we made a couple of mental errors and put the ball on the ground and had some turnovers. That really hurt us.”

For his efforts against the Griffins, Williams is Patch's Athlete of the Week.
