Bail Denied For Caregiver Charged In Homewood Man's Death
Bail was denied for the caregiver charged in the stabbing death of a Homewood man whose body was recovered during a house fire.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Bail was denied for a home health-care worker charged in the stabbing death of a Homewood man who had hired the caregiver to help him recover after surgery.
Frederick Walker, 23, of the 8600 block of 81st Street in Justice is accused of killing James Kerrigan, 78, in Kerrigan's home.
Kerrigan's body was found in his room Jan. 20 after firefighters extinguished a blaze in his house on the 1000 block of 185th Street.
According to the Chicago Tribune, prosecutor Rivanda Doss said at Walker's bond hearingTuesday that Kerrigan was likely dead before the house was set on fire, and that authorities determined he had suffered puncture wounds to his head, neck and body.

Walker has admitted to setting the fire, but said he did not kill Kerrigan, the Tribune reported. Investigators found a serrated kitchen knife in the back yard that they said was used in the murder and found two pairs of Walker's shoes that matched prints in the snow in that yard. One pair had blood on it.
