Carjacking Suspect Flees Scene, Crashes Twice, Then Arrested: PD
The incident happened Saturday, Sept. 9 in Flossmoor.
FLOSSMOOR, IL — A 19-year-old carjacking suspect was arrested Saturday shortly after stealing a car and crashing it twice while attempting to elude police, Flossmoor Police said Thursday.
Flossmoor police were called to the 3000 block of Vollmer Road just before 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, for a report of an armed vehicular hijacking in a local business parking lot. While officers were enroute, the suspect was reported to have fled in the stolen vehicle, then crashing at Vollmer Road and Crawford Avenue, Flossmoor police said.
Victims from the vehicle crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim of the carjacking was not injured during the incident and was treated by medical personnel.

Flossmoor police continued to investigate the incident and learned the suspect was involved in another, single-vehicle crash on Lincoln Highway in Matteson. Police from Olympia Fields and Matteson assisted Flossmoor with apprehending suspect Amir Aziz, 19, previously of Flossmoor and now residing in Chicago.
Police also recovered a firearm from Aziz.

An eyewitness of the vehicular hijacking positively identified Aziz as the suspect, police said. Aziz was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and remained in custody following his release from the hospital.
Aziz was charged Saturday with aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm.
Flossmoor Police Department Chief Jerel Jones thanked the Olympia Fields Police Department, Matteson Police Department, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance with the investigation.
