Community Coronavirus Testing Site Moves To South Holland
Vehicle emission testing will resume at the site near 159th and Pulaski as coronavirus testing moves to South Suburban College.
SOUTH HOLLAND, IL — Community-based coronavirus testing in the south suburbs will move to a new location as the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency resumes vehicle emissions testing at the site in Markham that's been used as the coronavirus testing site for recent weeks come June 2. The coronavirus testing service will be moved from Markham to South Suburban College in South Holland on June 1, according to the state of Illinois' Central Management Services. May 30 will be the last day the Markham site will be open for that purpose.
Testing temporarily stopped at community-based sites across Illinois for two days due to civil unrest connected to the Minneapolis police-related death of George Floyd, but according to the state's Central Management Services department all testing has resumed at these sites, including the one in South Holland, on June 3.
Testing services will be available daily at the college at 15800 S. State St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or while supplies last. People with symptoms are encouraged to seek a test, State Sen. Napoleon Harris III said.

Vehicle emissions testing is also set to resume at the Markham facility near 159th and Pulaski on June 1 as part of the beginning of Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan.
“We are grateful to our colleagues at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the property owners for the extended use of these facilities to provide a critical service for the community,” said Alicia Tate-Nadeau, director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. “These COVID-19 testing services will remain available and accessible to the residents of these communities. We continue to urge the public to utilize these services to ensure greater understanding of the prevalence of the virus in our community.”

Harris said it's "imperative" that testing remains available in the south suburbs.
“I am happy these COVID-19 testing services will continue to be available and accessible to the residents who need it the most,” the Democrat from Dolton said.
