Coronavirus Cases Remain Steady In Homewood: CCDPH

HOMEWOOD, IL — COVID-19 cases around the world have fluctuated over the past year. Here in Homewood, cases are remaining steady after weeks of being on the rise, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

The health department's latest statistics on the virus show that 31 cases have been recorded in the village within this past week. According to the department, the percent change in confirmed cases in past 14 days is zero, leaving the rate steady in Homewood. Since the start of the pandemic, the village has had a total of 2,088 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the department reports.

More than half of the village has been inoculated with both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. According to the health department, 13,601, or 70 percent of Homewood residents, have received at least one dose of a vaccine. People who are fully vaccinated with two doses include 11,270 or 58 percent of Homewood residents. Over 18 thousand people live in Homewood, Census data shows.

Cook County in general has a 2.9 percent positivity rate. Since the start of the pandemic, 279,120 Cook County residents have tested positive for the virus, and 4,680 have died. The department reports that the county currently has a high community transmission level.
