Gin Grab Results In Retail Theft Charge

Sean Smith, 46, of the 18900 block of Birch, Country Club Hills, was charged with retail theft, according to a Homewood police report. An officer met with a loss prevention officer at Jewel-Osco, 3153 183rd St., who spoke with police about an alcohol theft. Sean Smith was allegedly seen hiding a bottle of Amsterdam gin in his jacket, according to the report. He then tried to leave the store before he was stopped by employees. Smith was booked and is due in Markham court April 1.

Domestic Battery Charge for Homewood Man

Eric Chu, 26, of the 2900 block of Chayes Park Drive, Homewood, was charged with domestic battery, according to a police report. An argument where swear words and insults were used turned into a fight, police said. Both the alleged victim and offender started punching, choking and biting each other at some point. Paramedics arrived after Chu had left the home. He got into a car and was located on Kedzie Avenue, where police stopped the vehicle and arrested him.

Pot Possession Charge for Flossmoor Driver

Stephanie Neufeld, 28, of the 2800 block of Gordon, Flossmoor, was charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and possession of marijuana, according to a report. Police had conducted a random license plate check on her car at about 4:37 p.m. near the intersection of Olive Road and Center Avenue. The check allegedly showed Neufeld had a suspended license. She was arrested and taken to the Homewood Police Department. Police said they found a bag with about 3 grams of a substance that tested positive as marijuana in her vehicle. She is due in Markham court on March 6.

Craigslist Sales Goes Bad

A woman told Homewood police her cell phone was stolen after she had tried to sell it on Craigslist. According to a report, she met with a man at Menards, 17545 Halsted, to sell her T-Mobile Note phone. The suspect is described as a black man and heavy-set. The phone is valued at $600. No arrest was reported.
