Deserving Family Can Win New Car From Homewood Dealership

Chevrolet of Homewood is giving away a new Sonic. Find out how people can enter.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A Homewood car dealership and a Chicago nonprofit youth group are working together to give away new Chevrolet, and the organizers say they hope that vehicle will change the life of the person who wins it. Chevrolet of Homewood and Majostee Allstars are giving away a new Sonic to the individual who gives the best reason why the car will help them. The giveaway was announced online earlier this month and with a kickoff at the dealership that included Chevrolet of Homewood president of the dealership Steve Phillipos, activist and Majostee Allstars found Ja'Mal Green and Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld.

People wanting to enter the contest must write an essay of 200 words or less telling why the Chevy Sonic will change that person's life. Individuals can enter themselves in the contest or enter for someone else.

Entries must be submitted by Dec. 17, and essays will be posted on the Homewood Chevy Cares website. Dealership and Village of Homewood staff will vote on the top three finalists.

Again, dealership and village employees will vote, and the winner will be contacted by Dec. 22. The new car will be presented to the lucky individual Christmas Eve morning at the dealership, 18033 Halsted St.

Entries can be submitted at the Homewood Chevy Cares website. They also can be mailed to the dealership at the following address: 18033 Halsted St., Homewood, IL 60430.

This is the third year the dealership has held its car giveaway. In a video for this year's giveaway, Phillipos said the dealership continues to hold the contest as a way to give deserving people a break in their lives. A car, he added, is something many take for granted.

Green told the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle that he would like to see residents in need from Chicago's South and West side neighborhoods enter the giveaway. Majostee Allstars serves kids on the South Side.
