Flossmoor Will Have A New Mayor In April: Who Will It Be?
Two mayoral candidates and three trustee slots. See who is in the running for village board positions in Flossmoor, this April.
HOMEWOOD, IL — The April 2021 Consolidated Elections are just months away. Candidates for various positions around Flossmoor are officially in the running for mayor, trustee, library board and more.
The mayor's seat is up for grabs this year, as current Village President Paul Braun will not be in the running in April. The mayor and trustees in Flossmoor are responsible for creating and executing all municipal policies for the Village.

Filing for municipal elections ended in December, with many old and new faces entering the race across Cook County. The following candidates are expected to appear on the Flossmoor ballot this April:
Mayor

- Michelle Nelson — The candidate's Facebook page states her focus is on economic development, marketing, infrastructure, service and home values.
- Lakshmi Emory — The physician executive stated on her campaign page that she hopes to offer her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to serve the village.
Trustee – Three positions open in April
- Joni Bradley-Scott — Incumbent
- Brian Driscoll — Incumbent
- Gary Daggett — Candidate
- David Walano — Candidate
Trustee – Two-year unexpired term
- George Lofton — Lofton's appointment fills a vacancy following the resignation of former Trustee Gyata Kimmons. A board vacancy is filled by a mayoral appointment pending an affirmative vote by the Board of Trustees.
"It is very exciting to see so many people actively participating in the democratic process in their local communities," Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough said in a news release. "These elections are often overlooked although they have the most impact on our day-to-day lives."
The Consolidated Election will take place on April 6. Consolidated primaries are scheduled for Feb. 23. For more information regarding the upcoming election, click here.
